Mayor's Office

In the 2024 election, Dean M. Harris was elected as the thirteenth Mayor of the City of Weirton. 

Mayor Dean M. Harris was born and raised in Weirton, West Virginia, as one of seven children born to David M. Harris and Virginia Harris. Dean is a 1973 graduate of Weir High School. He is the proud father of two children, Jessica Lynn and Drew Michael, and the grandfather of three, Aliana, J.T., and Brock. 

Mayor Harris previously served as Weirton’s Mayor for eight years from 1995 to 2003, making him the first Mayor of Weirton to be elected for a third term.  Prior to becoming Mayor, he served as the Ward 5 Councilman for four years. Dean served as the past President of the West Virginia Municipal League, on the Board of Directors of the West Virginia Municipal League, and as a member of the National League of Cities. In addition to his municipal government experience, Dean is a former member of POWER (Pennsylvania Ohio West Virginia Economic Region Council) and a founding member of the Ohio Valley Mayors Consortium. 

Mayor Harris is excited to lead our community as we look to expand and diversify our city for future generations.
