The City of Weirton Planning & Development Department in partnership with Region 11 is in the process of preparing an update to the Region 11 Hazard Mitigation Plan. The plan is updated every five years. It supports hazard mitigation grant funding but its primary purpose is to set goals that when implemented will help reduce the negative impacts of future hazards including flooding, severe winter storms, droughts, and many other hazards.
