All City of Weirton administrative offices will be closed on Monday, February 16, 2026 in observance of Presidents Day.The collection schedule for garbage and recyclables will remain the same; it WILL NOT be altered.Questions concerning garbage collection should be directed to the Public Works Department at (304) 797-8500, Ext. 3002/3003.The Weirton Ride Transit Department will run the Saturday Route only. Members of the WYC began their night by diving into the planning of their upcoming community project. Nominations are Open for the 2026 Weirton Hall of Fame Class
THE WEIRTON HALL OF FAME COMMITTEE IS ACCEPTING NOMINATIONS FOR THE CLASS OF 2026
Honorees in the Weirton Hall of Fame are individuals with significant, outstanding accomplishments who have distinguished themselves for the benefit of the community.
There are Six Categories
Philanthropy
Public Service
Music and Fine Arts
Business, Industry, and Professions
Education and Religion
Sports and Athletics
To qualify, a nominee must be either a current or former resident of Weirton that has lived in the city for a minimum of five years since 1947.
Nomination forms will be available at Room 207 of the Weirton Municipal Building and on the City of Weirton’s website.
The deadline to submit a nomination form for the Class of 2026 is April 1, 2026. Nomination forms can be mailed to 200 Municipal Plaza, Weirton, West Virginia 26062 or dropped off to Room 207 of the Weirton Municipal Building. Envelopes must be marked ATTN: Weirton Hall of Fame Committee.
