[ARCHIVED] WMCC Open for Regular Business on Sunday

WEIRTON – The Weirton Millsop Community Center (WMCC) was officially closed as an emergency shelter on Saturday afternoon and will return to normal recreation operations on Sunday, February 6.

WMCC will be open Sunday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. with all workout locations open to its patrons.

The Weirton Board of Parks & Recreation appreciates the loyalty and understanding of its regular patrons.

The Park Board would also like to thank the many city departments, government entities, government officials, civic and social assistance organizations, churches, members of the business community and members of the general public for coming together quickly in a great team effort to respond with help for our neighbors in need. Assistance was rendered by, but not limited to, the City of Weirton, Weirton Parks & Recreation; Weirton Fire Department; Weirton Police Department; Weirton Public Works; Weirton City Manager Mike Adams; Councilman Fred Marsh and his wife Sue; Councilwoman Flora Perrone; Hancock County Commissioner Paul Cowey; Hancock & Brooke County EMS; Weirton Housing Authority; Cpt. Gene Hunt and the Salvation Army; All Saints Greek Orthodox Church; St. Joseph's The Worker Church; Weirton Geriatric; Follansbee & Weirton Sheetz; Basil’s Bar & Grill; Weirton McDonald’s; the family of Betty Wolfe; and Holiday Inn Weirton.
