Red Hot in Hancock's Chili for Children Cook-Off will be held at the Weirton Event Center in Downtown Weirton. While admission is free, attendees can buy tasting tickets to sample the various chilies and salsas prepared by the contestants. All proceeds will go to benefit A Child's Place CASA,Ltd., advocates for abused and neglected children in the tri-county area.
Events and activities include chili tasting, music, a tug-of-war tournament, kid’s events (featuring a duck/fishing pond), prizes, raffles and fun for the entire family.
The Tug of War Tournament will feature teams of 4 or more. The Divisions include: Adults-Male, Female & Co-Ed, High School, Middle School, and Elementary School.
The Cookoff is sanctioned by official International Chili Society (ICS), a nonprofit organization that sanctions chili cookoffs with judging and cooking rules/regulations. All winners of ICS-sanctioned Cook-offs qualify to compete for cash prizes and awards at the World's Championship Chili Cook-Off held each year in October.
