[ARCHIVED] Weir High Recognizes Special Olympics Hancock County WV “Pride”

On Friday, October 3, Weir High School recognized  the Special Olympics Hancock County WV “Pride” athletes and coaches during their home football game. City of Weirton officials were invited to help honor the athletes for their achievements in various sports and skills competitions.
Achievements recognized at the game included:
Zane Albaugh and Jason Emmetrich each winning silver medals at the 2024 skills competition.
Trevor Hruschak winning a bronze medal at the 2024 skills competition.
The Flag Football team competing  in Division 1 in Parkersburg South, finishing the day with a   2-1 record and a silver medal.
The Cheerleaders earning a bronze medal in the sideline routine and a silver medal in the dance routine at the 2025 Cheering Competition in Morgantown, WV.


Upcoming events for the Special Olympics Hancock County WV “Pride” athletes include:
A football competition in Parkersburg South on November 1.
Cheerleaders performing at Christmas on Main on November 22.
Cheerleaders competing in Morgantown, WV in March 2026.
