Mayor Harris presented Noreen and Rich Saxon, dedicated advocates for the cause, a proclamation at the September Weirton Council Meeting in observation of Childhood Cancer and Leukemia Awareness Month. The proclamation highlights the importance of supporting children battling cancer, survivors, and their families, while also bringing awareness of a disease that that affects hundreds of children and adolescents each week.

The City of Weirton encourages everyone to ban together to shine a light on the devastating reality of childhood cancer and leukemia by wearing or displaying gold and orange for the month of September.
