[ARCHIVED] WVU Medicine Weirton Medical Center Recognizes National Purple Heart Day

August 7th is observed annually as National Purple Heart Day to commemorate the creation of the Purple Heart Medal in 1782 and to honor recipients of the prestigious award. WVU Medicine Weirton Medical Center partnered with American Legion Post 10 of Weirton, WV to rededicate their Purple Heart Parking Space today as a “Thank You” to the millions of  brave men and women who fought for our freedom. As a tribute to Purple Heart Medal recipients, the City of Weirton presented a Certificate of Appreciation to the Hospital for their participation in the Purple Heart Parking Project at the event. 
The City of Weirton is grateful for all military personnel and  Purple Heart Medal recipients. Thank you for your selfless service to our Country.
