Christmas has become a popular time in Weirton with community activities such as the Christmas on Main Street event and the Weirton Chamber of Commerce’s Christmas Parade. It has become a tradition to place trees every holiday season at both the North End of Weirton and in front of the Millsop Community Center. The lighting ceremonies draw visitors to Weirton and help to bring our community together.
Mayor Harold E. Miller and City Council recognized how much the trees and their lighting ceremonies have positively impacted Weirton and wanted to continue the festivities for years to come. To achieve that goal, a need for artificial trees was evident because of the lack of real trees throughout the City that were both pleasing to the eye and safe to obtain. In August, a resolution was passed to purchase the trees including costs for installation, with the remaining funds to go towards Christmas on Main Street to ensure the event activities are free for Weirton and the surrounding communities to enjoy!
Thank you, Mayor Miller, Council, and City Administration, for investing in beautiful Christmas trees and Christmas on Main Street for the residents of Weirton and visitors to enjoy during the holiday season. Your generosity and support will bring joy and blessings to our community for many years!
