In honor of the National Day of Prayer, the Weirton Ministerial Association held a ceremony in front of the Weirton Municipal Building. People of different faiths joined together and demonstrated that regardless of religion or creed, we can unite and live together peacefully as fellow Americans. Salvation Army Captain Gene Hunt, Elder Michael Smith, Pastor Craig Greathouse, Pastor Gary Lilly, Pastor James Brown, and Pastor Bennett Briles led the group in prayer. Mayor Harold E. Miller presented a proclamation, read by Assistant City Manager, DeeAnn Pulliam. Fire Chief Kevin Himmelrick and Police Chief Charlie Kush led the Pledge of Allegiance. Kriss Pino closed the ceremony by singing “Proud to be an American.”
