April is nationally recognized at Sexual Assault Awareness Month (SAAM). The month is observed for advocates, survivors, their loved ones, and communities to come together to talk openly about sexual violence and identify strategies and resources to prevent sexual violence.
Mayor Harold E. Miller and Steubenville, Ohio's Mayor Jerry Barilla and City Manager Jim Mavromatis joined ALIVE Inc and the Sexual Assault Help Center,Inc.  to bridge the gap between the two communities to raise awareness of sexual violence in our area.
Sexual violence is widespread and affects all gender identities, sexual orientations, races and ethnic backgrounds, and ages. We must work to create strong, connected communities to ensure the safety and well-being of others to end sexual violence. Together we can make a change!
