Human trafficking is a global crime crime that affects all ages, genders, nationalities, and economic classes.
Since the inception of the National Human Trafficking Hotline in 2007, just in West Virginia alone there have been 246 cases of human trafficking identified and 550 victims identified in those cases.
Understanding the need to put a stop to human trafficking, in September 2023 the "YOU CAN" initiative was launched in West Virginia to bring awareness of human
trafficking in the State.
January has been dedicated as National Human Trafficking Prevention Month to bring awareness of human trafficking and to educate the public on how to identify and prevent this heinous crime. Take time this month to learn how you can help in the prevention of human trafficking.
