CITY OF WEIRTON 2024 MUNICIPAL ELECTION
The General Election for the offices of the Mayor and City Council of Weirton, WV will take place on November 5, 2024 in conjunction with the National General Election. A Municipal Primary Election will not be conducted.
Citizens interested in filing as a candidate for the offices of the Mayor and City Council are hereby notified that the Candidate Filing Period begins on Monday, January 8, 2024, and continues until 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 27, 2024.
Candidates for these offices may file forms at the Office of the City Clerk of Weirton, WV at 200 Municipal Plaza, Weirton, WV 26062 during regular business hours of 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM, Monday – Friday, and on Saturday, January 20, 2024, and Saturday, January 27, 2024, from 9:00 AM – 12:00 PM. Please note that all City offices are closed on Monday, January 15, 2024, in observance of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day.
Filing fee for the Office of the Mayor is One Hundred Dollars ($100.00)
Filing fee for the Office of a City Council Member is Fifty Dollars ($50.00)
For candidate forms being returned by mail to be accepted they must be complete, notarized, accompanied by the correct filing fee, and postmarked NO LATER THAN Saturday, January 27, 2024.
