David H. Reitter Bio

David H. Reitter 

David Reitter has lived with his wife Vicki (Fodor) Reitter in Weirton for 55 years. They have three adult children Bryon, Jaime (Lash), and Brent. David and his wife have six grandchildren and two great grandchildren. 

David graduated from Follansbee High School in 1965, graduated in 1970 from West Liberty State College (now West Liberty University) and received his masters from WVU. 

David taught and coached for forty-six (46) years at Brooke High School from 1970-2016 where many Weirton residents attend and played in multiple sports. He was a History and Health teacher as well as a coach. 

As the head basketball coach of the boy’s team, David and his teams won the 1987 WV Class AAA State Championship; in 1989 they were the WV Class AAA Runners-Up; they won two OVAC titles in 1987 and 1989; and won five WV Region I titles, five final four appearances in the WV AAA tournament, and twelve Region I Section I championships. 

David was fortunate enough to be both the head coach in football and basketball for five years. During that time the football team qualified for the WV AAA playoffs twice. 

David was named the 1993-94 Regional Basketball Coach of the Year, in 2018 was honored with the Earl Haberfield OVAC Boys Basketball Coach Award, in 2022 was inducted into the Brooke Athletic Hall of Fame, and in 2023 was honored with the WVSSACA Retired Coach Award. 

David has also umpired baseball for over thirty years and was honored by being named the 2006 Baseball Official of the Year. 

David has also worked for the city of Weirton as a supervisor of the Marland Heights Swimming Pool for over twenty years.
