Statement from Mayor Harold E. Miller:
The City of Weirton deeply mourns the loss of former Mayor Michael Andochick. Mr. Andochick served as the Mayor for the City of Weirton from 1971 to 1979 as well as a councilman for numerous years. We developed a friendship when we both worked at Weirton Steel. Our friendship grew as we shared a common interest and passion in the development and growth of the Hancock County Sheltered Workshop. While serving on the Park Board, he was instrumental in the expansion and development of the Millsop Community Center and Mary H. Weir Public Library. Mike also supported our local schools and churches. He was a great leader who truly made an impact in our community and touched the lives of many. I was blessed to know him as a friend and will miss him greatly.
