WEIRTON — The Weirton Board of Park and Recreation Commissioners’ annual Easter Egg Hunt will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, March 31 at Edwin J. Bowman Field, weather permitting.
The major sponsor for this year’s hunt is Hancock County Savings Bank.
“We really appreciate Hancock County Savings Bank stepping up to be our major sponsor,” Park Board Executive Director Coty Shingle said. “This event is, obviously, all about the community so when businesses join forces with the Park Board it allows us to provided the best services and events possible for the city of Weirton and show the entire community how much we care about them.”
The event will feature 10,000 eggs, a visit from the Easter Bunny and a bounce house prior to the egg hunt.
The egg hunt is open to all children from toddler to 10-years old. All participants will receive a free hot dog.
The Weirton Elks, Weirton Rental, Novelty Plus and Follansbee Scheetz are also sponsors of the event.
“I love the fact that so many area businesses are getting involved in helping to support this event,” Shingle said. “It’s a great example of the kind of teamwork that has always made Weirton such a special place.”
Children and parents should meet in the gymnasium at the Weirton Millsop Community Center (WMCC) prior to the egg hunt. Staff members will call children and their parents to Bowman Field in age groups. Participants can enjoy playing in the bounce house and taking photos with the Easter Bunny until the egg hunt begins.
In the event of inclement weather, the hunt will be kept indoors at the WMCC gymnasium.
