WEIRTON – The Weirton Millsop Community Center (WMCC) is happy to announce that membership applications for low to moderate income individuals and families in the city of Weirton are now being accepted.
The program has been made possible by a Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) administered through the program department of the city of Weirton, under the direction of Jessica Gumm.
Those interested in taking advantage of this membership opportunity must apply in person at the Weirton Millsop Community Center, 3420 Main Street, Weirton, WV 26062.
Applications will be accepted at WMCC beginning Monday, June 24, 2019 through Wednesday, July 31, 2019, during normal business hours, ending at 4:00 p.m. on July 31, 2019. No applications will be accepted after 4:00 p.m. on July 31, 2019.
Applicants must provide proof of residency and verification of income at the time of application submission. Weirton Residency is defined as residing “within the corporate city limits” – the city side of Harmon Creek and the city side of Kings Creek.
Copies of income and residency verification documents should accompany the application, and originals will not be returned. Copies are the responsibility of the applicant, but if copies need to be made, they can be purchased at WMCC for 25 cents per page. Applications must be completed accurately, signed and dated, or they will not be considered.
In the event that applications exceed funding, a random drawing will be held to determine the individuals or families to receive memberships. The drawing will be held on Thursday, August 1, 2019 at 2:00 p.m.
All applicants will be notified by e-mail (preferably) or mail whether they have been awarded a membership or not.
The City of Weirton Board of Park & Recreation Commissioners are a fair housing and equal opportunity employer and a minority and women’s business supporter.
